Are You Aligned To Your Passion…or Unfulfilled & Bored?

I began my business 4 years ago. At this time, I was miserable in my career. I had just received my Master’s in Public Administration and I was sending out resume after resume and not getting what I wanted or where I wanted. Thankfully, I had a friend and mentor who helped me to see why.

I was not aligned. What does that even mean? It means that I was not supposed to be in any of those roles. It was not my purpose. He asked me what my passion was, what I wanted to do, and how I envisioned my life and my career. I thought about it for a while and I knew that this was why I wasn’t fitting into any of these roles. By doing so, he helped me to define my goals. By saying out loud what I wanted, I knew that I had to go for what I wanted in my career.

To make a long story short, 4 years ago I jumped into entrepreneurship and made it my full-time job and have not looked back since. I have learned so much in the last 4 years of my journey- from working with my clients, to sales and marketing, to the “entrepreneurial” journey, to my own journey of self-discovery.

I did not receive a whole lot of support at the beginning of my journey- I am pretty certain my family thought that I was insane and I was doomed to fail. One thing I learned- do it anyways. Do not wait for the world to line up behind up you! I knew that life was too short to not make a massive career change. I felt as though if I didn’t do it at that time, then when would I do it? Would I make excuses not to? Would I regret it? Would fear get in the way?

It’s not cliche to say that the only way to know if you’re cut to do something is by trying it. I am big believer that we do not learn anything by sitting on the sidelines and wondering. Get up. Be bold. Do it. Don’t make excuses because your life won’t improve until you get the courage to go out and do it.

I know I am not the only one who has had a feeling of career hell. We spend more time at work than we do at home and about 85% of us hate our jobs. I felt called to do my part towards making a change. To date, VMC has been successful in helping hundreds of professionals find work that they love and negotiate salary increases. 

It takes a lot of courage to use your passion and to help people but don’t let the naysayers or haters or your own negative thoughts keep you from changing someone’s else life for the better.
